Nogomet

Nogomet is the term used in several languages, including Croatian and Slovenian, to refer to the sport commonly known as football or soccer in English. It is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, where the objective is to score by getting a ball into the opposing team’s goal. The game is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end. Players primarily use their feet to maneuver the ball, but the goalkeeper is allowed to use their hands within a designated area known as the penalty box.

Nogomet is one of the most popular sports worldwide and is governed by international regulations set by FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association). It encompasses a variety of formats and competitions, including local leagues, national championships, and international tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup. The sport promotes teamwork, physical fitness, and strategy, making it a significant cultural phenomenon in many countries.
