Soccer

Soccer is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, primarily known as football in most countries outside North America. The game is played on a rectangular field, commonly referred to as a pitch, with a goal at each end. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a ball into the opposing team’s goal, which is usually achieved by using any part of the body except the hands and arms—goalkeepers are the only players allowed to handle the ball within their penalty area.

Soccer is governed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), with its most prestigious tournament being the FIFA World Cup, held every four years. The sport has a rich history and is renowned for its global reach and cultural significance, with millions of players and fans around the world. Soccer emphasizes skill, teamwork, and strategy, making it one of the most popular and widely played sports across different age groups and demographics.
